Jake Hyland received the Alan D. Greenberg Memorial Scholarship in 2009. Jake graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering as well as a Bachelor’s of Science in Paper Science and Engineering. His award allowed him to focus on his studies and focus on gaining valuable work experience. We recently checked in with Jake to see how this entrepreneur was doing.
“Winning the Alan Greenberg Scholarship allowed me to remain on campus during the following summer. During which time, I took a research position with a faculty member. Having this research experience opened further opportunities for internship positions in the following years which provided me with the experience required to obtain a job upon graduation,” said Jake.
Jake currently works as the North American Product Manager for Andritz Inc., a specialty industrial machinery supplier to the Pulp and Paper Industry among other industries.
Upon accepting his current position, Jake took over a new product line. He was initially tasked with developing a sales strategy for this product line which included all marketing materials and a full business development plan. His strong entrepreneurial skills and experience allowed him to construct a strategy which has proved to be successful over the past two and a half years of implementation.
Since receiving the Alan D. Greenberg Scholarship, Jake has gone on to win the 2016 TAPPI 20 Under 30 Award and The 2016 Pioneer Award. He looks forward to continuing his growth with Andritz Inc. for years to come.
